About Course :

As India is a hub of Information Technology ,in order to create quality manpower in the context of globalization university is conducting a undergraduate and post graduate Degree course in I.T. as B.Sc I.T. and M.Sc I.T. This course provides adequate professional knowledge and skill to the students to help them to be globally competitive. Department of I.T. in Birla College has started this course in year 2002 . Dept.is having all the State of Art Infrastructure, modern equipments, laboratories, departmental Library with sufficient no of Books, periodicals, required journals etc. with qualified and experienced staff. We provide special training for personality development, Department has very good track record for conducting campus recruitment program from very first batch of almost all multinationals.
Eligibility :

  • 10 + 2 candidate with mathematics passed in first Attempt or Diploma in Engineering.
  • For open minimum 45% marks.
  • For reserve minimum 40% marks.
  • No CET. Admission on the basis of merit.

Merit List is prepared on the basis of Mathematics Marks at H.S.C.


Duration of the Course
:
  1. The course is a full time course. The duration of the course is six semesters spread over three years. 
  2. Number of Students: A batch of 60 students.
Semester Scheme :
  1. The course consists of 29 subjects and project at vi th Semester(for 200 Marks).
  2. Total number of lectures per paper (subject) shall be minimum of 60 and a maximum of 65 each of 50 minutes duration.

Scheme of Examination
  :
  1. Term Work          - 50 marks. 
  •  The allocation of 50 marks shall be on the following basis.
    Practical / Presentation/ Tutorial/ Case Studies                     - 25 marks.

    The remaining 25 marks will be allocated on the basis of
  • Class tests
  • Assignment marks

        Overall conduct as a responsible student, mannerism and articulation & exhibit of leadership qualities in organizing related academic activities is also taken into account..

      2.  Semester End examination         -100 marks

  • The responsibility of Examination evaluation during the first four semesters shall rest with the college/ institution where in the students are admitted for the course. The college/ Institution shall carry out the Term work for the papers in semesters V and VI while the University shall conduct the Semester End Examination for these two semesters. Term work assessment marks of students appearing for Semester V and VI shall be sent to the University by the respective college/ Institution before the commencement of the respective semester end examination.
Passing Standards (to be amended as)

  A)
  1. A student is said to have passed if he / she secure 40% of marks allotted in each head of passing. Theory of 100 marks and TW ( Practical / Tutorial) of 50 marks) are treated as separate heads of passing.
  2. A student is said to have passed semester I if the student passes in all heads of passing of the semester.
  3. A student is eligible to be admitted to IInd semester irrespective of no. of heads of failure in the first semester.

  B) Carry forward of Internal marks :

  • A candidate who fails in any particular papers shall be allowed to reappear for the theory paper/s. However his / her internal assessment marks shall be carried forward, and the student shall be entitled to grade "E" on passing.

  C) A.T.K.T.

  1.  A Student is eligible to be admitted to semester II if either the student passes in all heads of passing of semester or irrespective of no. of heads of failure in the first semester.
  2. A student is eligible to be admitted to semester III if either the student passes in semester I and II or the student fails in combination of Theory and or practical taken in 1st semester or II semester or together, where the total marks does not exceed 200.
  3. A student is eligible to be admitted to IVth semester irrespective of no. of heads of failure in the Illrd semester. However the student has to clear semester I and II in order to appear for semester IVth examination. 
  4. A student is eligible for admission to semester Vth. Either the student passes semester Illrd and IVth or the student fails in a combination of theory and /or practical taken in Illrd semester or IVth semester or together where the total marks does not exceed 200.
  5. A student is eligible to be admitted to Vlth semester irrespective of no. of heads of failure in the Vth semester. The result of Vlth should be kept in abeyance until the student clears II, IV and Vth semester in full.
Performance Grading :

The class is awarded semester wise for semester I, II, III and IV. However semester V and VI will be taken together for award of class i.e. in the final year.
  1. Award of class is based on first attempt and all papers given in the same sitting.
  2. Passing in parts will be awarded pass class irrespective of the cumulative percentage marks. 
  3. Distinction is awarded for 75% and above.
  4. First class is awarded for 60% and above but below 75%.
  5. Second class is awarded for 50% and above but below 60%.
  6. Pass class is awarded for all below 50%.
