Birla College is one of the four institutions (affiliated to University of Mumbai) which conducts a full time M.Sc Environmental Science course

Objectives :

Environmental science is an upcoming field. There is an increasing demand for this subject globally. The main objective of this course is to create Environmental Awareness among the students and to train the students in the field of Environmental Monitoring and Management.
Duration : Two Years Full Time Course
Contents : M.Sc-I = 4 Theory papers 75 marks each & 4 Practicals 50 marks each
M.Sc-II = 4 Theory papers 75 marks each & 4 Practicals 50 marks each

                         AND 
  1. Project report and presentation 
  2. Public lectures / Workshops. 
  3. Field Visits / Surveys / Industry Exposure / Eco tour. 
  4. Seminars.
Syllabus : Ecology and Ecosystem; Environment and Natural Resources; Environmental Pollution; Analytical and Instrumental Techniques for Environmental Monitoring; Pollution Control and Waste Management; Environmental Biotechnology and Health; Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety; Environmental Management
Eligibility : B.Sc in Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Life Science, Geology, Agriculture from any recognized University with minimum 45% aggregate marks.
Admission : Through ENTRANCE EXAMINATION Only.
Intake Capacity : 25 students.
Scope : Students can get an opportunity to work in the field of water and waste water treatment, pollution control , solid waste management, wildlife conservation , energy and natural resources conservation, toxicology and environment education, Carbon credits and CDM technologies.
Placement Details :
  • Students have been employed in Environment Department of various Industries, Consultancies & NGOs like NEERI, TCS consultants, EnviroVigil, Envirocare Labs, TMC, CETP Thane- Belapur, HWM, Thane-Belapur, Waste Encare, Green ventures etc.
